Itinerary

Day 1: Heho - Pindaya

Early morning upon arrival in YANGON International Airport, you will be welcomed by your Mai Hsoong tour guide. Transfer to your hotel for check in. The magnificent reclining Buddha at CHAUK HTAT GYI and after a photo stop at the KARAWEIK HALL, a ‘hamsa-bird-shaped’ floating barge on Kandawgyi (Royal) Lake. Have your lunch at local restaurant. Visit the KABA AYE (WORLD PEACE) PAGODA and the MAHAPASANA CAVE, built for memorial of the 1954-56 the sixth Buddhist synod took place Complete your Yangon impressions with an extended visit to one of the world’s most spectacular monuments, the SHWEDAGON PAGODA. Dinner and overnight at hotel in YANGON.

Day - 2 Yangon - Bagan

After breakfast, transferred to YANGON Airport for domestic Flight to BAGAN. Upon arrival in BAGAN, Straightaway you start the sightseeing tour ancient city beginning with the colorful local market at NYAUNG U to observe the local life’s and colors. Then continue to visit the most significant pagodas and temples of BAGAN start with glittering SHWEZIGON PAGODA, built by King ANAWRAHTA in the early 11th century as a religious shrine next BU LEI THEE PAGODA, noted for its panoramic view of the area’s numerous monuments and visit GUBYAUKGYI (Myinkabar), built in 1113 by King KYANSITTHA’s son, RAJAKUMAR and famous for its well-preserved stuccos on the outside walls and magnificent murals on the walls inside under the protection of UNESCO. A unique in style décor sandstone monument that said have been the palace of King MANUHA who had his own temple erected nearby, known as MANUHA temple. Lunch at local restaurant on your own account. In the afternoon, visit the manufacturing Myanmar most treasured handicrafts and visit a lacquer ware craftsmen’s workshop nearby MYINKABA village.
Follow by the ANDANDA temple, noted for its perfect architectural plan, myriads of sculptures in niches around the walls inside as well as four gigantic standing Buddha images. After a good tour of this fascinating temple complete the day by watching sunset over the beautiful AYEYARWADDY river from the temple top. Dinner and overnight at hotel in BAGAN.

Day - 3 Bagan - Popa - Bagan

This morning travel on a scenic route (50 km – 1½ hours) to Mount Popa, an extinct volcano and an oasis in the scorched Myingyan Plain. It is, among Myanmar people, widely known as the abode of “NATS”, animist spirits. For the energetic, there is time to climb the 777 steps to the shrine at the top of the volcanic plug. Enjoy a lunch at the Popa Mountain Resort with magnificent views across the ravine and lush trees. Return to BAGAN. Sightseeing continues after lunch at local restaurant with an excursion by boat to the KYAUK GU U MIN Cave Temple. Return to BAGAN and there is time to take a delight in the sunset on the AYEYARWADDY River. Dinner and overnight at BAGAN.

Day - 4 Bagan - Mandalay

wonder-myanmar-04After breakfast, transfer to BAGAN Airport for domestic flight to MANDALAY. Upon arrival in MANDALAY, you will be transferred straightaway to one of the most well-known shrines in Myanmar which houses the most venerated Buddha images of all in the Buddhist world known as MAHAMUNI or PAYAGI, which means “Great Sage”. Your exploration of the guilds will begin with that of the stone carvers, where you will witness the stone-carvers carving out of marbles all sorts of statues, proceeding to another of the embroiderers so deftly working and producing intricate tapestries. Moving on by bus you will observe another mindboggling process of gold-leaf making.

After lunch continue to GOLDEN PALACE MONESTRY noted for its fabulously ornate wood-carvings adorning the whole of the monastery inside and outside, and a short walk from there will take us past another imposing monastery to KUTHODAW PAGODA nick-named the biggest book of the world referring to 729 pages of marble slabs. After the usual ambulatory round of its central stupa, you will leave to go up the MANDALAY HILL for its famous sunset and its unrivalled panoramic views of the city at its base. Dinner and overnight at Mandalay.

Day - 5 Mandalay - Pyin Oo Lwin  -  Mandalay

wonder-myanmar-05After breakfast drive up into the hills from MANDALAY for a full day visit to PYIN OO LWIN (MAYMYO), a former British Hill Station. The road winds steeply through flower, fruit and vegetable gardens.  Drive through MAYMYO on a horse drawn “stage coach”, giving you the chance to admire the brick and timber houses, complete with English style gables, turrets and chimneys. In the afternoon visit to the tiny Forestry Museum (if open) and the National Kandawgyi Gardens, which were laid out by Sir Harcourt Butler, the former governor of Burma – flower beds are similar to those you would find in an English country garden! The garden has recently been renovated and is now called “Kandawgyi National Botanical Garden”. You have your own cart to drive around the huge garden. You can stop and go for short walks, for example you can do the “jungle” walk, which leads you on a wooden path through rain forest trees. Return to MANDALAY early evening. Dinner and overnight at Mandalay.

Day - 6 Mandalay - Pindaya - Inle

After breakfast, transfer to airport for domestic flight to HEHO. Upon arrival, proceed by road to PINDAYA (59 km – 2 hour) and visit PINDAYA CAVES, a unique site housing thousands of Buddha images placed there by pilgrims over the centuries. After lunch at local restaurant, drive to NYAUNG SHWE (90 km – 2 ½ hours) and transfer to your hotel on INLE LAKE. Dinner and overnight at Inle Lake.

Day - 7 Inle Excursion

wonder-myanmar-06After breakfast, a full day excursion by boat on Inle Lake will include sights of the famous leg rowers, typical floating gardens, local method of fishing, village life and magnificent scenery. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant on the lake itself. Visits are made to PHAUNGDAW OO PAGODA; the weaving village of INPAWKHON and to one of the local markets at  the Inle Lake region (Remark : on market days only).  After Lunch, aboard a boat to the Western Shore of Inle Lake, where you will find the beginning of a stair path leading to the well hidden INN THEIN PAGODA complex. Dinner and overnight at Inle Lake.

Day - 8 Excursion To Sagar

Enjoy a full day boat trip to the southern part of Lake Inle. While driving through Kyauktaing you may stop to visit a small pottery production center. The village of Kyainkham near Kyauktaing is famous for the production of fibers made out of Lotus trunks. These fibers are mainly used to weave Robes for the monks. You will leave the lake and continue through a narrow channel to the southern part of the lake. Arrive at Thakong.After Lunch, visit to Thakong Pagoda. Continue to Sangha village which was once a Shan Prince village.  Walk through this quiet village, talk to the villagers and visit the remains of some old pagodas. Not much has changed over the centuries. You may also stop a local rice wine distillery. Observe local methods of producing high degree alcohol fermented and extracted from bran rice. You will get insight into the un spoilt  culture and traditional life-style of the ethnic Pa-O and Intha inhabitants around Sagar and Hmawbi. Enjoy the beautiful landscape, flowering trees and numerous settlements dotted on both sides of the canal. Late afternoon return to the hotel at Inle Lake.

Day - 9 Inle - Heho - Yangon

After breakfast, you have time at your leisure until transfer to the Heho airport. Take the flight from Heho to Yangon. Upon arrival in Yangon, visit SULE PAGODA, dating back over 2,000 years ago and stroll through the BOGYOKE (SCOTTS) MARKET with hundreds of food, local clothes, handicrafts and gems stores.(closed on Public Holidays and Mondays) and transfer to Yangon airport for International departure.
